HOW TO STORE LOOSE TEA CORRECTLY https://doctor-farm.md/en/top-6-refreshing-iced-teas-to-brew-today/ Fri, 13 Jan 2017 02:55:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=5182

We choose teas depending on the taste given by their ingredients, the smell they give off or the properties they have. But if they are not stored properlyător, teas lose these properties. To enjoy our favourite teas for as long as possible, we need to store them in shareții optimal, i.e. at room temperature, protected from light and moisture, in airtight containers.

Even if it is more convenient to keep the tea near the stove to brew it as quickly as possible in the morning, it is best to avoid storing it near a heat source because the tea will soon lose its freshness. To understand how to store tea most effectively, we first need to know what harms it:

  • Air
  • Light
  • Smells
  • Heat
  • Moisture

If we want to store our tea in optimal conditions to enjoy its freshness and benefits, here are the rules to keep in mind:

  1. Tea should be kept in a sealed tin                                                                                                                                                                                                The container in which you keep the tea should be as airtight as possible. In theory, no air gets in at all when you immerse it in water and no water gets into the tea. By making a tea canister airtight, we take care that no moisture, dampness or unpleasant smells get into the tea. Tea leaves continue to oxidize over time if exposed to oxygen.

2. Do not expose tea to light

Light is not good for tea. Avoid glass containers or if you have them, don't keep them in the light. The effects of light on tea have not been thoroughly studied, but it has been found that dried leaves exposed to light taste "metallic".

3. Avoid metal

Avoid or be careful with metal containers. Metal containers have the disadvantage that they form condensation very quickly. Condensate means moisture, and this is one of the most damaging things to tea.

If you still have metal containers, be careful not to open them in places where condensation can quickly form, for example in the kitchen when cooking.

4. Tea should be kept away from heat

Heat accelerates oxidation (and stops it, but in monitored processes).
However, it should be noted that some tea specialists do not recommend refrigerating or freezing tea leaves.

5. Tea should be protected from strong odours

The tea leaves will borrow the strong smells around them. So don't store tea in the kitchen, near spices or near other strong-smelling toxic or non-toxic substances. Avoid storing tea in plastic or wooden pots.

6. Tea should be kept away from moisture

Tea is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the surrounding environment. By absorbing moisture from the surroundings, tea leaves lose their flavour. An airtight canister is all you need to block these processes.

7. Tea should be stored in bulk, loose

More tea stored in a sealed box means less oxygen to oxidise the tea leaves. So, fill your tea boxes for optimal storage. This rule is also very important in the ageing process of tea.

Avoid shops that do not respect these rules.

Additional recommendations:

Airtight boxes for tea storage

- Don't buy more tea than you need. The general shelf life for tea is 2 years in a cool, dark place.
- Try to buy only as much tea as you can consume in 6 months, maximum 1 year.
- Any type of tea can be kept longer if you put oxygen-absorbing sachets in the tea container.
The following rules have been organised to make it as easy as possible for you to keep your tea. If you know your tea well enough, you'll find storage solutions even if you "break" these rules.

The lime tree is considered a sacred tree in the folklore of Western European countries, and for the ancient Celts it symbolised selflessness. The linden tree is a champion of health. Here are its most important health benefits.

  • Lime blossoms are detoxifying- Due to its sudorific and diuretic properties, linden flowers promote not only sweating but also urinary secretions.
  • Fight insomnia - Lime blossoms contain active ingredients that induce sleep, acting through a mechanism similar to an allopathic drug, benzodiazepine.
  • Lime leaves are effective in conjunctivitis - they are an effective remedy for simple infectious conjunctivitis. Thanks to their antipruritic action, lime leaves restore balance to the skin around the eyes and get rid of puffy, red eyes.
  • Lime bark, an effective remedy in goutDue to its diuretic action, lime bark is of great help in case of gout. This very painful condition is caused by the accumulation of uric acid in the joints. Lime bark works by dissolving uric acid. You should follow a 2-3 week course of linden tea, taken 2-3 times daily.
  • Lime blossoms are a remedy against anxiety - they are beneficial to the nervous system, eliminating anxiety, depression and helping to relax the body. Drink a cup of lime tea before bed for three weeks.
  • Fights headaches/migraines -lime blossoms restore nervous balance and combat migraines. Lime blossom infusion is consumed at the onset of pain and the effect is rapid.
  • Menopause- Certain menopause-related disorders such as anxiety, insomnia, itchy skin, irritability and high blood pressure can be largely eliminated with the help of a lime blossom cure.
  • Lime infusion reduces fever- 1-2 cups of warm lime infusion stimulates intense sweating, which will lower the temperature. It is used especially in bouts of fever associated with acute infections.
  • Lime tea helps with colds, flu- it helps to regulate the body's temperature, free the airways from excess secretions, reduce and eliminate muscle aches, headaches associated with these conditions.
  • Lime blossoms get rid of irritative cough, productive cough- Lime blossoms contain some emollient substances (mucilages), which reduce irritation in the airways and soothe dry coughs. These active ingredients are also useful in whooping cough, as they help to clear excess secretions from the airways.
  • Lime tea helps with chronic and acute bronchitis- it has calming effects, reducing the intensity of coughing spells, helps eliminate excess secretions from the airways and combats fever attacks.
  • Lime infusion is adjuvant in fluid retention- a somewhat more concentrated (50 grams per litre of water) lime infusion is made and taken by spoon over 1-2 days. The combined infusion of lime increases diuresis and stimulates the elimination of excess fluids through sweating.
  • Adjuvant in tonsillitis- In a cup of combined and concentrated infusion (4 teaspoons per cup) of lime, put a teaspoon of coarse salt and stir. Gargle with this preparation 3-4 times a day. The treatment has a fast soothing, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect.

Excessive consumption of lime tea can promote some heart dysfunctions, especially in heart patients, which is why they are forbidden to drink this type of tea.

7 TIPS ON DRINKING MORNING TEA https://doctor-farm.md/en/how-to-make-a-perfect-cup-of-tea-with-loose-leaf-tea/ Mon, 12 Dec 2016 02:41:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=5162

There are many health benefits found in tea. In fact, as you drink more tea, your health will improve. The most potent healthy elements in tea are polyphenols, which have powerful antioxidant properties. Antioxidants slow down the aging process over time and strengthen the immune system. That's why morning tea is a ritual you shouldn't skip. There are a multitude of reasons why you should drink tea every morning. People all over the world enjoy teas of all kinds. Here are some tips that will help you make the most of the experience of a cup of tea in the morning and avoid any possible unpleasant effects of drinking tea.

  1. Do not drink morning tea on an empty stomach. Tea causes suppression of gastric juice secretions and can affect stomach acid and bile. It will also affect the absorption of protein and other nutrients. It will stimulate the gastric mucosa, leading to loss of appetite.
  2. Don't drink tea too hot. It can lead to irritation or inflammation of the throat, oesophagus and stomach lining. If you often drink very hot morning tea, it can cause permanent scarring in these areas.
  3. Opt for a light morning tea. Tea that is too strong contains too much caffeine, which can cause headaches or insomnia, stomach problems or inflammation. So don't add too many tea leaves and don't let it steep too long.
  4. Keep it infused as little as possible. If it steeps too long, regardless of the water temperature, it will become cloudy and the flavour will be bitter. You will also destroy all the nutrients in the tea leaves (vitamins, anti-oxidants, amino acids).
  5. Avoid infusing the same tea leaves too many times. Most teas can be brewed three or four times before they lose their flavour, and others once or twice. The exceptions are Pu-erh and Oolong teas, which can be brewed up to 5-6 times.
  6. Don't drink a lot of tea before breakfast. Otherwise, food will not taste good and you will hinder the absorption of protein in the body.
  7. Do not take medicine with tea.

White wormwood contains a treasure trove of active ingredients, proving its effectiveness in treating numerous ailments. Since ancient times, herbalists have used the leaves and flowering tops (July-September), when the plant has a strong aromatic smell and a very bitter taste. In the digestive system, wormwood is also known to soothe indigestion, bloating and cramps, and is effective in hypoacid gastritis, enteritis, hepatitis, biliary dyskinesia, vomiting, constipation, haemorrhoids, intestinal parasites and lack of appetite;

Also, wormwood preparations can be successfully used in cases of asthenia in anaemic people, in cases of convalescence, debility, anaemia, headaches, hypertension, lung diseases caused by cold, rheumatism, gout. It is also a good remedy for festering sores, boils, ulcers, pecking, swelling, bruises, insect bites.

Here are some of the recommendations that Prof. Constantin Milică makes regarding herbal treatments based on wormwood preparations:

-infusion of one to two teaspoons of dried leaves to 200 ml of boiling water; drink two teas a day before meals to stimulate appetite or after meals for other ailments;

-tincture of 20 g dried herb to 100 ml alcohol 400; take 15-20 drops in an infusion of mint sweetened with honey, 30 minutes before meals, as an aperitif;

As this species of wormwood has strong deworming and healing properties, it is used to combat intestinal worms (limberi, pinworms), dysentery, diabetic canker sores and atonic wounds. According to Prof. Constantin Milică, the forms of use depend on the conditions treated. Thus, in internal use it is administered:

- worm syrup of 40 g sea wormwood, 40 g Corsica moss, 20 g bitter orange peel, 20 g cinnamon, 50 g sugar and 100 ml water; take 2-4 tablespoons a day;

- 2-8 g powder in infusion, milk, honey or syrup; 1-2 g in children aged 2-5 years, 2-5 g in children aged 5-8 years, in 2-3 day courses. After the last dose a purgative is given.
