TOP 5 HEALTHIEST TEAS https://doctor-farm.md/en/5-2/ https://doctor-farm.md/en/5-2/#respond Tue, 24 Oct 2017 11:36:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=9737

The health benefits of herbal teas are comprehensive and completely natural. White, green, red or black, tea has numerous health effects, the most important being its antioxidant effect, which prevents ageing. Rich in minerals (calcium, iron and potassium), a cup of tea a day can be extremely beneficial for the body but also for the beauty of your skin.
Discover 5 of the healthiest types of tea and the benefits for your body:
1. Green tea

Thanks to the many antioxidants found in its composition, green tea is extremely beneficial for the whole body. This tea stimulates the metabolism to work at a faster pace, thanks to a component called catechin, which fights against fatty tissue on the abdomen. For example, it helps and increases blood flow, fights the flu virus, lowers blood sugar levels, lowers cholesterol, fights bacterial infections, works as a powerful antioxidant and is a major contributor to preventing the effects of ageing and maintaining good health.

How to prepare correctly: first of all, it is advisable to buy green tea from places specialising in the sale of natural products and teas, and another tip is to choose packets containing tea leaves and not tea bags. Hot water diminishes its flavours and therapeutic properties and gives it a bitter taste, so brew it with warm water (around 70 degrees Celsius) and, very importantly, steep it for only 1-3 minutes. Enjoy its natural flavour without adding sugar. Consumption of green tea should be limited to those who have problems with calcium assimilation. Consumed in excess, it can cause nervousness, palpitations, insomnia.

2. Mint tea

It is one of the most popular teas and can do wonders for our body. It is one of the most effective antioxidants, dissolves fats and stops the absorption of fatty acids, making it a reliable ally in the fight against extra pounds.

A first beneficial effect of mint is that it reduces stress. They also relieve colds, headaches or symptoms caused by anxiety. Regular consumption of this tea reduces bile problems and reduces gallstones, helps to strengthen the immune system and reduce the occurrence of infections in the body and prevent flu, blood circulation is improved.

Peppermint tea made by boiling the leaves is more effective in treating gastric problems than that from dried leaves. Make an infusion of 2 teaspoons of dried herb or a few leaves of the green plant and pour boiling water over it. Peppermint tea is also ideal after a large meal, as it aids digestion. But be careful, if consumed in excess, peppermint tea constipates you, which will make any weight loss cure more difficult. Therefore, do not drink more than 3 cups a day and try to alternate it with other slimming teas.

3. Ginger tea

It gets rid of headaches because it has a strong anti-inflammatory effect. Drink a cup of ginger tea when you have a headache instead of all sorts of drug treatments. Ginger tea combats digestive discomfort (prevents diarrhoea, flatulence, bloating and indigestion), strengthens the immune system thanks to its high amount of antioxidants, prevents rheumatoid arthritis, gets rid of menstrual cramps and helps relieve stress, as it has an energising effect, which is why it is not recommended to drink it in the evening.

4. Tea of rosehips

Few people know that apples contain 10 times more vitamin C than lemons, having a tonic effect, quickly revitalises the body and strengthens the immune system, eliminating microbes and bacteria. Thanks to its high vitamin C content, it has an anti-aging effect, which is confidently recommended by geriatricians (who deal with the diseases of old age) to people who want to maintain their youth. The tea is prepared by infusing fresh or dried fruit. These are infused with boiling water so as not to destroy the vitamins. It is recommended to drink the tea with all the fruit, and when it gets warm you can add a teaspoon of honey.

5. Chamomile tea

It helps to reduce headaches, which are very common with a bad cold. In combination with lemon and a few teaspoons of honey, chamomile tea is a good antiseptic and soothes a scratchy throat and various stomach ailments. It can also be used successfully for anxiety and nervous problems. It is indicated in all diets, because it helps to maintain body weight, balance fluids in the body and, in addition, inhibits the development of harmful cells, so prevents cancer, keeping the body young for longer. For example, 3 cups of chamomile tea a day can reduce irritable bowel and colitis problems. To make the tea, add one tablespoon of chamomile flowers to a cup of boiling water. Leave the cup covered for 10 minutes, then strain and drink. To get rid of stomach problems you can do a cure with chamomile tea for two months.

THE TEA CUP STORY https://doctor-farm.md/en/2-2/ https://doctor-farm.md/en/2-2/#comments Fri, 11 Aug 2017 11:35:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=9731

One day, an elderly couple traveling in England, enter an antique shop to buy something nice for their 25th wedding anniversary. The woman's attention was immediately drawn to a beautiful teacup and she asked the shopkeeper to show it to her. Only the teacup was more special than the woman had imagined: he started talking, to the surprise of both of them, he said:

But I wasn't a teacup from the start. A long time ago I was just a lump of red clay with no particular purpose. Then a potter saw me, took me and kept beating me, kept kneading me, kept rolling me, while I cried: Let me go, it hurts! I don't like it, don't do that! But the potter said: Not yet!

And it didn't end there: he put me on a wheel and spun me, spun me, spun me over and over, I was dizzy until I was sick! And again I said: Stop it, I'm dizzy, I feel sick! But the potter, quietly, said: Not yet!

Then again he kneaded me, kicked me, threw me and moulded me into the shape he wanted. And he put me in a hot oven, it was so hot, I felt like I couldn't stand it! I wanted to get out of the oven, I kicked the door, I kept screaming desperately, I begged him in tears: Get me out of here, please, I can't! But the potter said again: Not yet!

And just when I thought I was going to die of pain in that kiln, the door opened and the potter pulled me out. He carefully placed me on a shelf and I began to cool off. It felt so good, the ordeal was finally over, I thought to myself.

But it wasn't over: he picked me up again, brushed me, coloured me with all sorts of paints - it smelled awful, I was sick. I screamed: Let me go, please, have pity on me, I can't! But the potter said: Not yet!

And you think my ordeal is over here? No, he threw me in the oven again, only this time it was twice as hot! And again I begged him with tears in my eyes: Please, get me out of here, I can't! That time I thought I'd never get away, it was that bad. But just as I was about to give up, the potter pulled me out, put me back on the shelf and I started to cool down, to feel good.

But I thought I wasn't getting off that easy, what was he going to do to me next? After a while, he showed me a mirror and said: Look, that's you!

I looked in the mirror and exclaimed: That can't be me! She's so beautiful! I'm so beautiful!

And then the potter said to me: I know you've suffered and cried and ached when you've been kneaded, rolled and kicked, but if you'd stayed a lump of clay you'd have dried up. I know you got dizzy bad when I spun you on the wheel, but if I'd stopped, you'd have broken into pieces. I know it hurt and it was hot in the oven, but if I hadn't put you there, you'd have cracked. I know you got sick from the smell of the dyes, but if I hadn't brushed you and colored you all over, you wouldn't have really browned and you wouldn't have the shine you have now that everyone will see. And if I hadn't put you in the oven a second time, you wouldn't have survived. Now you're whole and strong and beautiful.

You've probably figured out by now what the moral of this story is: when it seems like life is hitting you, knocking you around, throwing you from side to side and you're suffering beyond your strength, it's actually strengthening you, so that you can become a stronger person and shine in the world as much as you can, more than you think you can.

So, next time you encounter moments like this, make yourself a cup of tea, drink it from the loveliest cup and think about this story.

TRUE AND FALSE ABOUT TEA https://doctor-farm.md/en/1-2/ Fri, 21 Jul 2017 11:35:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=9729

It is well known that after water, tea is the most consumed beverage in the world. There isn't a corner of the world where people don't drink at least one cup of tea a day. Originating in China, it has been grown and drunk for more than 2,000 years. Today, its health benefits are scientifically recognised.
As with any kind of treatment, herbal or otherwise, tea is also attributed qualities and flaws that may not even be true. Indeed, some teas have even created real legends.
Let's see what's fake and what's not.

  1. It's not good to drink it hot

FALS
We can drink it as hot as we can bear, as it has a vasodilating effect on our capillaries, thanks to the flavonoids it contains. A quality that benefits us in both summer and winter. By dilating capillary blood vessels, the sensation of warmth in cold weather will be more intense. Conversely, in hot weather, vasodilation of the capillaries has a cooling effect, as it increases heat loss. So it is recommended to drink hot and during hot weather.

  1. People with anaemia should limit tea consumption

TRUE
The polyphenols contained in tea chemically 'bind' to iron from food and prevent it from being absorbed. Women, but especially children, should avoid drinking tea before or immediately after a meal, especially if their daily diet is not high enough in meat and meat products (the body's main source of iron). If tea usually accompanies your meals, it would be good to consume foods rich in vitamin C at the same time (for example, drinking orange juice or lemonade made from fresh lemon), which does not allow polyphenols to hinder iron absorption.

  1. Gives us cavity protection

TRUE
The tea starts working for you from the first sip. The substances it contains, especially polyphenols, prevent the bacteria in your mouth from producing acids that attack your tooth enamel. To relieve a toothache, the Chinese advise us to chew a few green tea leaves, and in the case of canker sores, to speed healing and relieve pain, apply a moistened black tea bag to the affected area.

  1. Can give insomnia

TRUE
If you consume it in large quantities, you may have trouble sleeping. Why? Tea contains 2 stimulants, caffeine and theophylline, which are less harmful than those in coffee. Depending on its variety, a cup of tea provides 2-3 times less caffeine than a cup of coffee. However, there is a problem. The caffeine in coffee is released quickly and acts briefly, whereas the caffeine in tea diffuses into the body over a longer time and therefore has a prolonged effect. Consumed in moderation, however, it boosts alertness and increases the brain's ability to analyse the information it receives daily. In conclusion, if you don't want to stay up all night don't drink more than 5-6 cups (cups, not mugs) of tea a day.

  1. No milk or lemon is healthier

FALS
The polyphenols in tea bind to iron from food (especially meat) and prevent its absorption. So it's best to drink tea between meals to avoid iron deficiency. In addition, it is advisable to add milk or lemon to the tea - these saturate the iron ions, which will be better absorbed this way.

  1. Prevents cardiovascular diseases

 TRUE
Tea increases your daily intake of antioxidants, which help maintain good health. Both green and black tea contain flavonoids and polyphenols, substances with antioxidant effects, which prevent the action of free radicals, the "enemies" that age us before our time and are associated with cardiovascular disease, cataracts and cancer.
2 cups of tea contain as many anti-oxidants as 7 glasses of orange juice or 20 glasses of apple juice. 3-5 cups of tea a day have been shown to combat hypertension and normalise cholesterol levels, the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Regularly drinking just one cup of tea a day can almost halve the risk of a heart attack, and in people over 50 this healthy habit reduces the risk of stroke by 70%.

Preparation rules

The usual ways of preparing tea are infusion and decoction.
For infusion generally use the delicate parts - leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds - while decoction is used to extract substances from the "hard" parts - roots, bark.

* Put the leaves or the sachet with the herb in a glass or ceramic teapot and not in metal pots, which can give the tea a strange taste. In general, 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb or 2-4 teaspoons of fresh herb are used for a cup of tea. Read the brewing recommendations carefully.

* Pour hot but carefully not boiling water (70-80°C) over the plant. It's best to use spring water or still mineral water - sink water contains chlorine and other chemicals.

* Cover the pot tightly and leave to infuse for 3-4 minutes. It will retain its colour, aroma and taste.

*Stretch it carefully. It's not good to let it steep too long, as too much tannin is released and the tea will be bitter.

CURIOSITIES ABOUT TEA https://doctor-farm.md/en/tea-may-be-the-best-gift-for-men-and-heres-why/ Thu, 27 Oct 2016 02:28:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=5189

Tea is said to be the second drink in the world in terms of popularity, the first being water. Tea - a warm, aromatic drink with a history of over 5000 years, we drink it every day for its properties and delicious taste. Today, tea is considered the drink of conversation, of hospitality, it is a way to promote a healthy lifestyle. Tea has many properties, but did you know:

* Tea reduces appetite, making it ideal for dieting.
* Many types of tea contain caffeine, and some can compete with other caffeinated beverages such as coffee. A cup of black tea, for example, contains half the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee.
* The tea was discovered by accident by the Chinese emperor Shen Nung? Apparently he accidentally mixed the boiling water he was drinking with dried leaves, which resulted in the aromatic liqueur.
* The value of tea is indisputable, did you know that until the 19th century in Siberia, tea crates were often used instead of money?
* On average, 3 billion cups of tea are consumed in a day.

* There are about 1500 types of tea.
* The most expensive tea in the world comes from China, it is a very rare variety called Tieguanyin, and half a kilogram costs 1500 USD.
* Tea only appeared in Europe in 1608 and the first country on the continent to enjoy it was Holland, as its ships carried it across the seas to Europe. At that time the only source of tea in the world was in China.
* Tea is the national drink in Iran and Afghanistan. Green tea is served as a refreshment, black tea for warming.
* Tea is the world's oldest and most popular soft drink.

* Tea tasting is similar to wine tasting. Specialists have to establish the peculiarities of each type of tea according to the oxidation and fermentation process, the origin of the tea plant, determine the theine level, find the perfect combinations for tea blends.

* In Asia, tea readers are as respected as astrologers. So, the future can be read in tea leaves, shaken three times.

*  The world's oldest teapot is in Japan and bears the name "Tsuen Tea House" in Uji. It was founded in the 12th century by a retired samurai.

Since ancient times, tea has been considered a healthy drink. Studies show that green tea in particular helps bad breath, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, lowers blood pressure and is a good anti-inflammatory.

7 MISTAKES WE MAKE WHEN BREWING TEA https://doctor-farm.md/en/cast-iron-teapot-discover-the-japanese-tetsubin/ Thu, 22 Sep 2016 01:00:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=5194

Here's a list of mistakes many people probably make when brewing tea.

First of all, you need to understand that there are 6 types of tea (white tea, green tea, black tea, yellow tea, pu erh tea, oolong tea). Here are the most common mistakes we make when it comes to infusing the tea plant.

1. Over-boiling water for tea

The temperature of the water is very important in the preparation of a quality tea, which preserves its own flavour and releases the theine, vitamins, aromatic oils, mineral salts.

When preparing the water for tea, wait for it to reach boiling point. Turn off the heat quickly and let the water "breathe" more for green tea, less for black tea.
In general, black tea is brewed at 95 degrees C and green tea is brewed at 70 - 80 degrees C.
Please note that only herbs, Pu Erh tea and rooibos tea (African red tea not made from Camellia sinensis) can be infused with boiled water. Otherwise, tea leaves should not be 'steeped' or 'boiled' but infused. And be careful with green tea, whose taste becomes bitter if brewed with boiling water for more than 3 minutes.

2. Do not respect the brewing time for each type of tea

Just like the temperature of the water, the brewing time differs for each type of tea. And it's very important! Many other tea lovers have "enjoyed" bitter tasting cups. But the tea is not bitter, it was just brewed wrong. Here is some important information for a mistake-free brew:
White tea - infusion 3 minutes, water temperature 80 - 85 degrees C
Green tea - infusion 1 - 3 minutes, water temperature 70 - 85 degrees C
Oolong tea - infusion 3 minutes, water temperature 85 - 95 degrees C
Black tea - infusion 2 - 5 minutes, water temperature 95 degrees C
Pu erh - infusion 3 minutes, water temperature 95 - 100 degrees C
Herbal teas/Rooibos or herbal teas - infusion 3 minutes, water temperature 100 degrees C
When we say "brew 3 minutes" for white tea for example, or "brew 1 - 2 minutes" for green tea we mean that the tea leaves or tea bag are removed from the teapot or tea cup after 3 minutes or 1 - 2 minutes respectively.

3. Make tea with tap water

This really is a big mistake. Choose 'soft', cold, plain or spring water, but never from the sink because it is full of chlorine and possible harmful substances, lacks oxygen and alters the taste of the tea. In addition, clean water allows the active ingredients in tea to dissolve more easily. It is also preferable to use a type of water rich in natural minerals that enhance the flavour of the tea.

4. Add sugar to tea

Instead of enjoying the healthiest possible drink with 0 calories, you're making a mistake by adding sugar - the most harmful "element" (we can't call it "food") in the kitchen. The Chinese or Japanese, the most authentic tea drinkers, consider it almost blasphemous to add sugar to tea. Tea is drunk plain, without sugar, without milk, without artificial sweeteners.

5. Use only tea in the bag

If you like to drink tea, or want to drink tea for its great properties, it's a shame, a great shame not to try brewing loose tea, which you can buy from online or offline tea shops and tea shops. Only then will you be able to revel in the true flavours of tea leaves. Keep in mind that tea from tea bags is the lowest quality tea (dust) with the least antioxidant properties. Eyedropper is of course easy to brew, especially at work, but not as healthy and certainly not as tasty.

6. Brew black tea in the evening and forget about the fact that tea is energizing and contains theine

It should not be forgotten that the tea contains theine (half as much as a cup of coffee) and that infusing black tea in the evening is not recommended. If you want to learn more about this topic, browse this article.

Here's how the tea should be consumed:
In the morning - any type of tea (black tea is recommended and contains the highest amount of theine; it can successfully replace coffee). After black tea, the next type of tea with more theine is oolong tea.
Lunch - any type of tea (oolong tea or green tea recommended)
Afternoon - white tea (contains the least amount of theine but the highest amount of antioxidants)
In the evening - rooibos and herbal infusions (contain no theine at all).

7. Not storing tea properly in your own home

Tea is a dehydrated product, with a low water content and a porous structure, and it has a high capacity to lose flavour-generating substances and to retain volatile substances from the environment. For these reasons, packaging must ensure that the tea is protected against water, vapours and gases.
Store tea in airtight boxes, not the paper bags it's usually packed in. Do not store it in the kitchen, but in a place away from light, heat, strong smells, moisture

TEA BY THE BAG OR LOOSE? https://doctor-farm.md/en/special-house-blends/ Wed, 14 Sep 2016 13:54:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=5431

Tea bags make the brewing process a simple one, so at first glance it's a practical choice for preparing tea. On the other hand, loose tea offers high quality and the pleasure of smelling and seeing better the leaves from which you will prepare your favourite drink.

So... envelope or bulk?

Whether it is consumed to treat or cure certain health problems, to shed extra pounds or to relax, tea remains the second most consumed beverage in the world, quantitatively, after water. Today, there are numerous types of teas with a wide range of flavours on the market, which have benefits in different branches of health. However, the same cannot be said of teas in teabags, which are promoted by manufacturers as sources of health without actually showing the hidden dangers.
If in the case of loose tea available in the form of leaves, flowers, coarsely chopped pieces, the medicinal properties of the plant, as well as its aroma, are maintained intact, here is that in the case of tea in sachets, the situation is completely different. Thus, in order to be packaged in sachets, the plants require very fine grinding, in some cases even to a very fine powder. Such a process increases the plants' surface area in contact with light, which causes oxygen in the atmosphere to lead to a much faster degradation of antioxidants (catechins) and other nutrients.
Moreover, the envelopes used to package the plant absorb the antioxidants present in the tea, releasing dangerous substances once they come into contact with hot water. That said, the only advantage of tea in a bag is the ease with which it can be prepared.
Many packaged teas, advertised as healthy, actually contain pesticides, toxins, artificial ingredients, flavours and genetically modified organisms. More than 91% of the teabags tested have been shown to contain levels of pesticides exceeding the limit allowed by health authorities. Equally worrying is the fact that carcinogenic and toxic substances (propachlor, propargite) have been found among the ingredients of the teabags.
Loose tea may be available in the form of leaves, flowers, coarsely chopped pieces. This keeps the medicinal properties of the tea intact, but also its flavour for a longer period of time than tea packed in sachets. Another advantage of loose herbs is that tea can be made from the same herbs several times, each with a slightly different flavour.
Loose teas are healthier and tastier than bottled teas, but require more effort to prepare.

Here are 5 reasons why you should ditch the tea bags and use loose tea:
- loose tea means high quality;
- loose tea - a great variety that we can enjoy;
- real health benefits;
- Tea leaves bring us closer to nature;
- loose tea can be a great gift.

Tea is more than just a drink, and that's because of the long history and traditions that have formed around it. Once you choose to consume it in its purest form, it can be the start of a passion that will gradually turn into a lifestyle.

BENEFITS OF MARIGOLD TEA https://doctor-farm.md/en/marigold/ Mon, 01 Aug 2016 13:45:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=5424

Marigolds (Calendula officinalis) are widespread in the Mediterranean area of Europe and North-Eastern Europe. They belong to the Asteraceae family and are an annual herbaceous species with yellow flowers. These plants keep their flowers for most of the year, closing them at night and opening them at dawn.

Marigold flowers contain saponosides, mucilages, carotenoids (approx. 3.5%), triterpene alcohols, flavonoids and flavone glycosides, sterols, tannins, volatile oil (approx. 0.02%), bitter substances, traces of volatile oil (oxygenated sesquiterpenes), vitamin C, malic acid, mineral salts and protein substances.

Marigolds are annual plants that flower from May to September.
Harvest time: harvest marigold flowers without stems when fully developed. Marigolds are harvested 4-5 days at a time, after dew has risen and until evening. Dry in thin layers in the shade.

For internal use marigolds have a remarkable therapeutic effect in treating diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, jaundice, cancerous ulcers, hemorrhoids, inflammation of the colon or liver disease.
For external use use with confidence marigold in the form of marigold tincture, tea marigold, marigold infusion or marigold alfalfa to treat conditions such as mycosiswounds purulent, acne, leukorrhea, burns, ulcerative breast lesions, breast and skin cancer.

For the marigold infusion, put 2 teaspoons of dried marigold flower tips in 350 ml of boiling water. From the infusion, drink the tea three times half an hour before eating. A more strongly concentrated infusion is made from 4 tablespoons of marigold flowers to 250 ml of water, of which 3 teaspoons are drunk daily.

Drinking two to three cups of marigold tea a day between meals has an excellent effect in treating hyperacid gastritis and peptic ulcers. Marigold tea also has the property of soothing menstrual pain, especially in anaemic people.

Marigold-infused compresses activate dry skin. Marigold tea is also recommended for treating jaundice, ulcers and uterine lesions.

Marigold flowers in the form of baths, poultices or tincture are also used as a dressing for wounds that are slow to heal, such as ulcers, pus wounds, burns, frostbite, acne and eczema, because the active ingredients in marigold have the ability to stimulate blood circulation in the tissues, thus speeding up healing and wound healing.

Known since ancient times as a food, medicinal and textile plant, nettle has been used by all the peoples of Europe, including the ancient Greeks, Latins and Geto-Dacians. From that time, nettle was known as 'Mart's weed', being likened to Mars, the god of war, because of the aggressive properties of the nettle-like stalks on its leaves and stems.Considered a sacred plant, live nettle is eaten throughout Lent, necessarily on Lent, Easter Week and Easter Saturday.

Nettles, unparalleled natural medicines

For food purposes, the aerial part of young plants is harvested immediately after sprouting, or only the leaves gathered with a glove, by strujire, until flowering. They are used fresh in various dishes or dried, kept in the shade in a thin layer in well-ventilated rooms, then stored in cloth bags. For medicinal purposes, the whole plant (leaves, herbs, roots, seeds) is harvested, as all the plant parts have therapeutic properties. Harvesting can continue until October. Allow to wither to lose the stinging properties and then dry in the shade. The roots are pulled out of the ground in spring and autumn, washed and dried in the sun or in well-ventilated places.

Therapeutic properties of nettles

They are the result of this complex of active principles found in all the plant's organs:- antianemic, energizing, vitaminizing, mineralizing, depurative (in cleansing the blood of toxins), tonic, antirachitic;- in digestive disorders, it has hepatoprotective, antimicrobial, gastrosecretory, antidiarrheal, antihemorrhagic, aperitive, anthelmintic effects;- in the respiratory system, it has expectorant, emollient, antitussive, antiasthmatic, antibronchitic, anti-inflammatory properties;- for kidney health, it is diuretic and drains excess urea, creatinine and uric acid; - in cardiovascular diseases, it activates blood circulation, vasoconstricts and fluidises the blood;- in general metabolism, it is a good hypoglycaemic (antidiabetic), anti-cellulite, anti-rheumatic, immunostimulant; - in external applications, it has astringent, antiseptic, healing, epithelialising, haemostatic, revulsive, rubefacient, antiseborrhoeic, deodorising and insecticidal actions.

Nettle cure, suitable for all ages

A sustained course of nettles, taken in various forms, has favourable effects on a wide range of diseases: digestive, genital, renal, pulmonary, cardiovascular, rheumatic. It prevents and combats digestive diseases:- hyperacid gastritis caused by tobacco and coffee abuse, gastric and duodenal ulcers, prevents gastric cancer, stimulates gastric, pancreatic and intestinal secretions;- hepatitis, biliary lithiasis, cirrhosis and ascites;- digestive atony (indigestion), mild constipation (one teaspoonful of root powder taken 15 minutes before meals), diarrhoea, or diarrhoea caused by tuberculosis, dysentery, acute and chronic enteritis; - combats mild digestive haemorrhages (4-6 tablespoons of dried leaf powder are taken in a day); - inhibits the development of pathogens and intestinal parasites. In genital diseases it has effects in:- preventing and combating uterine bleeding after childbirth (nettle, associated with traista-chobanum and wicker), hypermenorrhoea (heavy and irregular menstruation), dysmenorrhoea, leukorrhoea ("white poultice", treated with fresh leaf juice - ˝ glass in the morning and evening, in 10-day courses, consecutively), atrophic vaginitis;- female and male sterility (nettle seed powder - 1 teaspoonful 3 times a day).

In kidney diseases, nettle preparations are effective in:- renal calculosis, renal infection;- urinary retention, uremia (infusion from leaves, nettle roots, consuming one litre tea per day instead of drinking water), reduction of urea, uric acid and creatinine;- cystitis, enuresis (urinary incontinence); - prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia (tincture - 20 drops 3 times a day, in courses of 3-4 weeks); - gout, causing diuresis due to the presence of flavonoids. In pulmonary diseases, it is effective for:- bronchitis and bronchial asthma, fluidifying bronchial secretions (due to mucilage);- dry and convulsive coughs, frequent colds, chest pains;- pneumonia, chills, haemoptysis, tuberculosis (decoction of nettle roots and leaves with honey and white honeycomb, in 1-2 month courses, or powder of dried leaves, taken with honey, in equal proportions).

In cardiovascular diseases, nettle tincture is effective in arteritis and as a massage in the heart area. In metabolic disorders (diabetes mellitus, obesity), a 3-week course of treatment is recommended, repeated throughout the year, using a mixture of nettles, bean husks and mulberry and walnut leaves. In degenerative and gouty rheumatism, polyarthrosis, lumbago and sciatica, nettle tincture (20-30 drops, 3 times a day) is used as a long-term course.A 4-week course of nettle leaf infusion (2-3 times a day) is recommended for the revitalisation of weak, anaemic, rickety, convalescent bodies and for athletes.

Nettle puree, effective in skin diseases

Nettle preparations are particularly effective in healing suppurating wounds, varicose veins, varicose ulcers, gangrene, urticaria, psoriasis, chronic eczema, burns, freckles, lichens, calluses, brittle and brittle nails, dermatitis allergies, tumours and skin cancer. Local baths are made with concentrated infusion of leaves and roots (6-10 tablespoons per litre of boiling water), with healing and epithelializing effects. Fresh leaves crushed with a little salt and poultices of nettle puree can also be applied for various skin ailments, including bee, wasp and bumblebee stings. In rheumatism, lumbago, polyarthrosis and sciatica, the treatment inherited from the ancient Greeks and Latins is still applied, consisting of repeated flogging (beating) 10-12 times with bunches of fresh nettles on the painful places, with strong revulsive, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and blood circulation activating effects. The same procedures are applied in cases of paralysis and apoplexy. After flagellation, the patient is not allowed to come into contact with cold water and will lie down, well wrapped. The beneficial effect of stinging is explained by the release of histamine and serotonin, both of which play a role in alleviating the sensation of pain.In combination with internal treatments, in courses of several months, stinging nettle helps osteoporosis by its ability to restore thinned cartilage, especially in women after menopause. The action is due to the plant's richness in vitamins and mineral salts, particularly silicon.

Nettle extract strengthens hair roots

Nettle is used in toothpaste, shampoos and in tinctures with anti hair loss effects, helping to restore lost hair. The decoction of 3-5 tablespoons of dried leaves to a litre of water, to which nettle and burdock roots, thyme herb, lavender flowers, birch and walnut leaves, hop cones are added, with the addition of a few tablespoons of vinegar, is very valuable. It is used in weekly baths on the head to strengthen the roots of the hair, to degrease the greasy hair and to combat alopecia, seborrhoea and dandruff. The same mixture is also used to make a tincture (100 g of the plant to a litre of 400 proof alcohol, which is steeped for 8-14 days). Massage the roots of the hair at 2-3 day intervals to activate growth, followed by vigorous brushing with a rough brush on the scalp. Cranberry leaves, flowers and fresh horsetail seeds can be added to the mixture.

Nettle salads cleanse the blood

Due to their high content of protein, vitamins and mineral salts, young nettles are used with great success in spring food cures for at least one month in various forms of culinary preparations (salads, soups, broths, meat dishes, mashed potatoes, pilaf, potato meatballs, pie fillings, juices).Salads are made only from nettles, rubbed with salt to stop them blistering, or in combination with dandelion and lettuce leaves (in equal parts), with a little oil and lemon juice. Can be prepared: nettle salad with egg; 150 g fresh nettle leaves are washed, blanched for 5 minutes, drained, finely chopped and mixed with a little apple cider vinegar and salt, possibly with 20 g cream. These salads have miraculous blood-preserving effects, cleansing the blood of toxins and revitalising and vitaminising anaemic and debilitated bodies as they come out of winter. The invigorating effect is due to the stimulation of the production of red blood cells, leucocytes and platelets.Nettle soup is prepared from young leaves, which are boiled in salted water, chopped finely, stewed in a little butter, added water (from the boiling water), thickened with flour, dill and a few slices of potato and boiled again. The leaf juice is obtained by strong pressing or in a blender. Dilute five times with water and drink 100-500 ml daily, in the morning on an empty stomach and 30 minutes before meals, in a 3-4 week course. It has diuretic effects in kidney and bladder diseases, removes excess uric acid from the blood and is clearly effective in uterine or nasal haemorrhages (200 ml each before main meals), pulmonary haemoptysis, diabetes (prolonged courses of 500 ml daily, divided into instalments), cancers and in preventing the formation of malignant tumours. The juice can be added to all juice recipes prescribed for anaemic people and women with high menstrual blood loss.Nettle syrup is prepared from fresh juice, boiled in a mixture with an equal part of sugar, until syrupy in consistency.

5 myths about tea https://doctor-farm.md/en/5-myths-about-tea/ Fri, 22 Jul 2016 01:09:00 +0000 https://doctor-farm.md/?p=422

Surely, you've all heard at least once about the undeniable health benefits of tea. In fact, studies have shown that people who regularly consume tea have a lower risk of diabetes and Alzheimer's and have stronger bones and healthier teeth. However, not everything you've heard so far about tea is true. Here are the 5 most common myths about tea:

 1. Adding milk to tea neutralizes its beneficial properties

Although some studies suggest that the addition of milk to tea neutralizes the benefits that tea has on heart health, recent research claims that this is not true and that the same amount of catechins (antioxidants that help reduce cancer risk) was absorbed from both plain tea and tea with milk.

2. Mint tea soothes digestive problems

While a cup of herbal tea can soothe an irritated stomach, peppermint is not one of the best choices, as peppermint aggravates acid reflux. A wiser choice would be ginger tea.

3. Tea consumed plain is healthier

The citric acid in lemons or oranges works wonders for the body, so it never hurts to add it to your tea. What's more, citric acid helps preserve flavonoids for longer, and is especially necessary when preparing tea in advance (like making ice teas). Flavonoids are the compounds in tea responsible for many of the benefits of tea.

Also, a small study in 2010 showed that adding honey to tea can make us more productive at work.

4. Fruit tea is tea

In fact, real tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. White, green, black and oolong teas come from this plant. Herbal or fruit teas are basically infusions, not teas.

5. Tea has no expiry date

In fact, the tea has a shelf life of about 6 months. After this period, the tea starts to lose its antioxidants. A 2009 study showed that after 6 months the level of catechins in tea dropped by 32%.

To preserve the properties of the tea as long as possible, store it in a tightly closed container, in a place away from light and moisture.
